Marie Zydek of the blog Marie a la Mode shows us her Edmonton style.
1. Tell us about yourself.
My name is Marie Zydek and I am the Founder of the fashion, beauty and lifestyle blog Marie a la Mode. I’ve been blogging for 7 years and within the first year of blogging I started styling photoshoots before moving into personal wardrobe styling, creating my business “Marie Zydek Styling.” I help men and women find a style that reflects who they are, and help them feel confident in what they wear and what they’re presenting to the world. I also act in commercials, TV and films from time to time.
2. What’s your first fashion memory?
When I was 3 or 4, I would change my outfit 4 times a day, experimenting with fashion and how it made me feel. I loved playing dress up and now as a blogger, stylist and actor I’m still able to.
3. Define your style in three words.
Classic, comfortable and minimal.

5. Where do you find inspiration for your style?
Social Media – Following bloggers like Brooklyn Blonde, Something Navy, Sincerely Jules

6. What are your favourite spring trends?
Fashion – I love that yellow will be really popular this spring. It’s such a stand-out color. Also, florals never get old in the Spring
Nails – Pale pink and pastel grey
Hair – Sleek, pin-straight hair: easy to accomplish with a straightener, no fuss!
Makeup – Minimal makeup: tinted moisturizer, cream blush, mascara and lip gloss will be all you need
7. Who are your fashion icons?
I honestly don’t have a favorite one but I always love what Amal Clooney, Olivia Palermo and Gigi Hadid wear
8. What’s your go-to everyday outfit?
Black Skinny Jeans. Black Ankle Boots. Comfy T-Shirt. Leather or Cropped Jacket. And a necklace.
9. How has your style changed since becoming a mom?
It’s all about comfort and easy-to-wear pieces. When you’re chasing after a one year old it’s crucial. I’m a busy mom so I try to purchase clothing that’s easy to wash instead of having to hand-wash or dry clean.
10. What is your favourite thing about Edmonton and its style?
Edmonton Style – It’s underestimated. So many people here have AMAZING style. I think people who live in bigger Canadian cities can be a bit surprised just how fashionable Edmonton has become. We have a popular fashion community here, with talented designers, bloggers, influencers, stylists and artists and it just keeps growing which is so great to see.
Edmonton – The sense of community and how supportive everyone is of each other and their endeavors. We lift each other up.
